Jim Brown (1964)

Though he hasn’t played in forty-five years, the former Syracuse University All-American remains the standard by which all running backs are judged. A member of the Pro Football Hall of Fame, Brown led the NFL in rushing in eight of the nine seasons he played for the Cleveland Browns. He was named to the league’s All-Star team each season and was the league MVP three times. He retired at the peak of his football prowess at age twenty-nine to pursue an acting career, and appeared in scores of movies, including The Dirty Dozen, a critically acclaimed war movie. In 1988, he founded the Ameri-I-Can Program that works with kids caught up in the gang scene in Los Angeles. He currently serves as an executive advisor to the Browns. He was born February 17, 1936.
